As I sit at my computer typing this post the rain is coming down in a steady rhythm and the wind has kicked in. I don’t mind the rain, it keeps the garden plants watered and the lawn green. There is a sort of therapeutic hum to the patter of the raindrops and I find it soothing. I certainly love a bright sunny day with the garden in bloom but to enjoy those days you must have some of these. I plan on taking a picnic to out local national park this weekend, let’s hope the weather improves for saturday.
We have the smallest US national park right here in our little town. Weir National Historic Site is a tiny national park that is run by the National Park Service. It is a wonderful old homestead that now has an artist in residence program, junior ranger programs, tours and much more. Click here to link over to the official site.
There are acres of open space just perfect for a picnic or hike. I often see artists hidden away in the tall grass with their easel and palette working away on their own masterpiece.
